ABOUT OUR HISTORY
Apple Valley Country Store in Hood River Oregon is one of Hood River’s favorite visitor attractions. Located in the midst of picturesque orchards, forrests and farmlands, our family has been making homemade jams, jellies, and pies in the store's kitchen for over 20 years.
The White family bought the run down building in 1989 to use as an outlet to sell their organic apples and produce grown on their farm. Today, Apple Valley Country Store is run by their son Justin, who joined the business in 2006 after a 15 year culinary career taking him from Boston and Key West to the San Juan Islands.
CANNING KITCHEN
Justin brought new energy and expertise to the business which he used to expand the kitchen, update equipment and look for new opportunities to streamline. Today, Apple Valley wholesales its jams to many other farms in Hood River along with stores in nearby Portland and Bend. The product line has grown to include over 50 varieties of fruit jams, pepper jellies, syrups and pie fillings. Our pepper jelly line features northwest cherries, peaches and berries to produce such favorites as Cherry Habanero, Peach Habanero, Huckleberry Habanero and Marionberry Habanero. We also produce our own line of sugar free jams such as Huckleberry Peach or Marionberry Pear as well as sugar free syrups such as Vanilla Pear. Beginning in 2011, many of our canned products can be purchased in Portland at Sheridan Fruit Company, 409 SE MLK Jr. Blvd. and the Hood River Bagel Company in Hood River.
BAKERY
In our store's bakery, each pie is made from scratch, including the filling. Our pie filling contains fruit, sugar and spices. No commercial canned pie fillings, preservatives or fillers are ever used. You can smell the aromas of fresh pies baking every morning. We offer a wide selection of fruit pies such as wild Huckleberry, Marionberry, Strawberry-Rhubarb, Cherry and more. Whole pies are sold as well as by the slice and u-bake frozen pies. Some of our bakery specialties, such as flaky Pear or Apple Dumplings, Berry Cobblers, Crisps and turnovers are baked only on special event weekends.

ICE CREAM
And what would pie be without ice cream? Apple Valley uses Oregon- made Tillamook Ice Cream, the very best hard and creamy ice cream made -- Marionberry, Huckleberry, chocolate and Vanilla cones are available along with a selection of seasonal fruit milkshakes. The most popular is huckleberry until fall, when the Pumpkin Milkshake takes over as number one.
SPECIAL EVENTS
From Cherry Days in July to Apple Valley’s Apple Butter Festival in October, each month offers at least one special event celebrating the seasonal harvest.

OLD FASHIONED COUNTRY BBQ
Visitors and locals alike have come to enjoy this popular lunch stop which is offered only on special event weekends (see Special event Weekends). The meat is slow smoked with local fruit wood, including apple and pear but primarily cherry. The menu includes pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, St. Louis style ribs and Polish sausages. All are served with pear coleslaw and cider baked beans, made with local apple cider.
ONLINE CATALOG
Many visitors who purchased products at our store continued to want to order through a catalog, especially during the holiday season. Several years ago we converted our paper catalog to a virtual catalog with an online shopping cart. Most of our jams, jellies and syrups are available online.
